At its core is the inner conflict of the individual, oscillating between euphoria and deep emotional discord. Through the visceral movement of French Krump dancer Germain Zambi, the installation deconstructs human emotion into a digital-physical metamorphosis. Noémi Büchi. The work unfolds as a meditation on transformation, memory, and the fragile boundary between what has been lived and what continues to resonate. Derived from the Latin exuviae—what has been shed—Exuvie explores the tension between matter and memory: the traces that remain after change, and the slow, embodied processes through which the body absorbs, remembers, and transforms. It explores the aesthetics of fragility and the deliberate highlighting of imperfections. The work combines physical presence with the symbolism of Japanese craftsmanship to create a poetic visual language. The focus is on the dancer Noriko Nishidate. In an analog process, her body was painted with delicate patterns reminiscent of classic Japanese porcelain. Brigitte Fässler uses this painting as the basis for a targeted digital transformation: in post-production, the color of the paint was extracted and replaced with gold. +2 This intervention is a media-art reference to the tradition of Kintsugi, where broken ceramics are mended with gold. Rather than concealing the fractures, they are refined and celebrated as an essential part of the object's history. In "Porcelaine," this concept is transferred to the human body. The work shows a hybrid existence in which technological processing becomes a symbol of resilience: alleged cracks are not viewed as a deficit but are made visible as a source of a new, transformed beauty. Grounded in the neuroscientific thesis that our brain actively constructs our surroundings, the work questions whether an undistorted perception of the self can truly exist. In a world of digital reflections, the body becomes a site of technological deconstruction.In the performance by Gotautė Kalmatavičiūtė, movement manifests as a fragmented process of becoming. Brigitte Fässler’s visual language utilizes high-resolution 8K digital capture as raw material to blur the line between physical presence and digital abstraction. Through a meticulous process of frame-by-frame manipulation, the footage was deconstructed and re-synthesized using a custom-engineered algorithm. This code simulates and manipulates a rolling shutter effect to break the temporal logic of motion, placing the dancer in a state of permanent metamorphosis. The result is a sensory poetry that oscillates between objective documentation and subjective distortion—a silent resonance on the fragility of our perception.
